Hi everyone. Happy New Year lets hope its a good one without any fears!……ok well fingers crossed the fundraising goes well. Here we go

Well we are very nearly ready to launch the site.  Its christmas time and theres happiness in the air.  Our christmas wish is for this to be successful.  Thank you to everyone that has helped to get this far.  Its amazing as i am sure everyone will agree.  MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment

Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment or HBOT is a medical treatment that uses pure 100% oxygen to help the body heal faster. It’s a non-invasive treatment that takes place in an oxygen chamber. We normally breathe 21% O2. This increase in pressure of oxygen helps white blood cell formation, helps oxygen reach more bone and tissue and promotes the formation of new blood vessels.  HBOT reactivates cells and allows the brain to form new connections and relearn cognitive or physical skills. This is more likely to be turned into new functional movements when HBOT is used in association with intensive therapy that focuses on strength and movements required to meet a specific goal or milestone (eg crawling.) Every kid has hobbies or a sport or a special need that parents inevitably invest in to the best of their ability. With Paige it’s ‘equipment.’ Paige has enormous equipment needs and we do see this as our responsibility as parents to meet these needs. While we are managing this, sometimes just accessing the equipment means waiting years for things that we know she’d be better off if she had immediately. The Pediasuit is a treatment device that comes with a cap, vest, shorts, knee pads, arm attachments and shoe attachments. All the pieces have elastic bands joining them. When a child with CP puts the suit on it helps their sense of proprioception,  or pressure through their joints, reduces their reflexes which are usually a problem and helps the muscles work together in synergy. This changes the messages going to the vestibular system where the information is processed from the muscles, tendons and joints. The vestibular system impacts on the child’s sense of balance and how their body sits or stands in space. Read the rest of this entry »
